Memorable Homecoming For Austin Lotz
Austin Lotz made sure that he would remember his first career WHL start in his home province of Manitoba.
"But behind a brilliant performance by goaltender Austin Lotz, who was playing for the first time in his home province of Manitoba, the Tips improved to 3-0 on their six-game swing through the East Division. Lotz finished with 39 saves, including 21 during a sensational first period that kept Everett in the game."
"Everett was indebted to Lotz for escaping the first period with a scoreless tie. Brandon outshot the Tips 21-8 in the first — the most shots Everett has allowed in a period this season. But Lotz made three huge saves, first robbing Jayce Hawryluk with a diving glove save, then twice denying Eric Roy during a late power play, keeping it scoreless."
"Lotz made another huge save to maintain Everett's lead, stoning Tim McGauley on a breakaway. Then the Tips erupted in the final minute of the second to take command on the scoreboard."

Brown A Star
The Pats’ goaltender was a monster in the final stages of the game as he shut the door to hold onto a 3-1 win.
Training with GDI for over 6 years Tyler Brown
held his own against the Silvertips as he made 25 of 26 stops on the night for 1st Star Honors.
0/4 on their Powerplay the Silvertips couldn't mustar any special team opportunities against the Regina Pats.
In the other end longtime GDI Goalie Austin Lotz pushed aside 32 of 35 in his efforts for the Silvertips.

Pair Of First Shutouts
Two rookie MJHL goalies posted their first career MJHL shutouts this past week. The first was Mario Petit of the Steinbach Pistons.
"The Pistons used a goal in each period and a 35 save performance from Mario Petit to defeat the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 3-0 Sunday night."
It was the young goalies first MJHL shutout but the pride of Ile Des Chenes was quick to point to the defense in making a difference. "The d-men helped a lot to clear the guys from out front and not allow too many odd man rushes, they made it real easy to see the puck."
Petit has been training with GDI for years through 1v1 lessons, GDI Summer & Prospect Camps and the Total GDI Academy.
Connor Shaw also posted his first career shutout on Sunday.
Shaw turned aside 29 shots for the Dauphin Kings. The Kings took this contest 4-0 over the Swan Valley Stampeders.
Shaw has been training with GDI this past year which includes travelling to Winnipeg to participate in 1v1 lessons.
Bailey Funk Named MBAAA Goaltender of the Month
Bailey Funk played four of the Eastman Selects’ six games in December, recording three of their four wins, and has been selected Goaltender of the Month.
The 17-year-old veteran posted a goals-against-average of 3.00 and a save percentage of .875 while posting wins over Winnipeg Thrashers, Central Plains Capitals and Southwest Cougars. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound native of Steinbach is listed by the MJHL's Steinbach Pistons.
Additionally, GDI Goaltender Riley Bannerman was nominated as a runner-up. Bannerman has been training with GDI for the past four years.
Bailey has trained with GDI over the past five years taking part in 1v1 training sessions and GDI clinics in Steinbach.
Kosier Named MFMHL GDI Goalie of the Month
The MFMHL GDI Goalie of the Month for December is Kathleen Kosior of the Central Plains Capitals.
Kosior, who is in her third MFMHL season hails from Winnipeg MB, recorded 2 wins vs. 0 losses while recording 1 shutout. Kosior had a GAA of 0.50 and a save % of over .980 in December. To date this season Kosior has a GAA of 1.11 and save % of .928 in MFMHL play with a 6-2 record and for season with the Capitals Kosior has an 11-5-1 record with a GAA of 1.18 while recording 6 shutouts.

GDI Heads Down To South Winnipeg
GDI was in south Winnipeg this week working with all the South Winnipeg Minor Hockey goalies.
There was a great turnout for goalies as they all worked through multiple tactical shooting stations as well as a PSM circuit.
GDI looks forward to continue working with all these goalies on a regular basis.
