Five Winterhawks are off to compete with their respective NHL affiliate teams as they join their American Hockey League squads during the Calder Cup Playoffs. Cody Glass, Dennis Cholowski, Joachim Blichfeld, Skyler McKenzie and Cole Kehler have all been sent to their AHL teams.

The Ontario Reign, the affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, recalled goaltender Cole Kehler. Kehler signed an entry-level contract with the Kings on December 8th, 2017. Kehler had an incredible 20-year old season with Portland. He registered the second-best GAA in the league at 2.77, and was top-5 in the Western Hockey League in wins and shutouts. He was twice named “CHL Goaltender of the Week” and three times “WHL Goaltender of the Week”.
