LEARNING NEW SKILLS As a goaltender acquiring new ways of action can be difficult. What is important is that before you take the leap to completing the task in a game environment at a random instant you must be able to complete it under little to no stress. What this provides is a strong understanding and more importantly a "feeling". The feeling is critical. Listening to an instructor, seeing them perform the task after they discussed it, will aid in visual cues for you to take action. See it. Then picture yourself completing the same task - Use small clips of video - Picture the skill in steps. Getting the Feeling: - You will know when you have done it. You will feel in control of your response - The action you take will feel direct and full of purpose Listen and get "cue words" for the skill. Then watch an example. Attempt to take action. Breakdown the skill. Practice until you feel in full control.
