GDI Goalie Evan Johnson has found himself some new stripes as he has been traded to the Medicine Hat Tigers from the Portland Winterhawks. Medicine Hat, AB – In what should be a busy offseason, the Medicine Hat Tigers made their first deal, acquiring 19 year old goaltender Evan Johnson from the Portland Winterhawks over the weekend. In Johnson the Tigers get a goaltender with some WHL experience, having split his rookie year with the Calgary Hitmen and the Winterhawks. Johnson was dealt at the trade deadline by Calgary to acquire Brendan Burke from Portland. Johnson appeared in 19 games combined sporting a 3.13 GAA and 0.890 SV % and holding a respectable 6-3-2-2 record. “Evan brings with him valuable WHL experience,” stated Head Coach and General Manager Shaun Clouston, “We are excited to add him to our group.” The Winnipeg native will enter his second season in the WHL and saw game action against the Tigers in an October 25th game where he allowed 3 goals on 15 shots.
