The Steinbach Pistons' season may be over, but they have been nominated for Sport Manitoba's Team of the Year Award. The award is for the calendar year of 2013, which includes the Pistons' MJHL Championship and hot start to the 2013-14 season. Head Coach Paul Dyck notes while the championship really stands out, including the start of this past season is also a bonus. "We really got off to a great start, I think we went 11-1 and we reached 2nd in the national rankings. I think that's a big reason why we were nominated." Dyck adds it's another feather in the cap for the Pistons organization, and also provides an opportunity to reflect on the championship team. "There are a lot of fond memories associated with the championship run, and we're thankful we had that opportunity and it was a great experience for everyone involved. Now we're looking forward to getting back to those opportunities and making another run in the future." He explains the award nomination is an honour and a testament to all the hard work the team put in. The other nominees for the award are the Team Toba C-2 paddling team, the Team Toba Baton Twirling team and Team Matt Dunstone in curling. The winning team will be named Monday evening.
