Bobrovsky was crowned the No. 1 star of the week for his recent efforts. Heading into the weekend, the former Flyer had 161 saves on 166 shots in his last five starts with a 3-0-2 record, 0.94 GAA and .970 save percentage. “He’s worked really hard on his size and getting bigger in the butterfly,” Ian Clark, Bobrovsky’s goalie coach with the Columbus Blue Jackets, told the Courier-Post. “I’ve taught a lot of strong goaltenders over the course of my time, and he’s certainly been one of the most avid goalies in terms of trying to get better every day.” Last year, as an understudy to countryman Ilya Bryzgalov, Bobrovsky didn’t seem avid about much of anything. Bryzgalov’s presence seemed to intimidate him. The two didn’t talk much. Maybe Bryzgalov read an offseason Russian interview in which Bobrovsky said he wants to be a No. 1 goalie. He sure is now. “Bobrovsky’s been off the hook this month,” Goldman said. “I’ve had a really good chance to watch his last three or four games. He was a pretty big story, not just for Columbus, but for goaltending in general.” For the full article Click Here.     Ian Clark is recognized as a leading educator of the goaltending position as his knowledge and innovative approach has attracted high-performance goaltenders at the NHL, minor pro, major junior and NCAA levels.
