Hockey Canada announced Wednesday that 102 players have been invited to attend Canada’s National Women’s Program strength and conditioning camp, taking place May 6-10 in Hamilton, Ont. The invitation list inBrittni Mowat GDI Goaltendingcludes 50 candidates for Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team and 52 candidates for Canada’s National Women’s Development Team, who will participate in both on- and off-ice sessions, which will introduce and reiterate Hockey Canada’s expectations in areas such as nutrition, mental conditioning, physical fitness, testing, training and other positive daily behaviours. The strength and conditioning camp marks the first activity for the 2015-16 season for Canada’s National Women’s Program, and is a building block towards world championships during the season. Players selected for this camp are in consideration for the Canadian teams that will compete in three-game series against the United States this summer, as well as at the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship and 2016 Nations Cup, and with Canada’s National Women’s Team. To read more Click Here Two GDI Goalies will be attending the camp with Brittni Mowat and Kerigan Dowhy both receiving invites. Brittni Mowat will be in camp for Team Canada's National Women's Development team. Mowat recently finished her second season with Bemidji State Beavers appearing in 33 games posting a record of 19-13-1. Mowat was near the top of the WCHA conference for stats with a sparkling Gaa of 1.68 and outstanding Sv% of .945. Mowat wasn't finished there as she set a new program record with 7 shutouts on the season. Kerigan Dowhy Kerigan Dowhy will be in camp for Canada's National Women's U-18 team. Dowhy enjoyed a strong season playing almost every game for the Norman Wild of the Manitoba Female Midget hockey league. Dowhy was busy playing 1723 minutes with a record of 11 and 19. Dowhy finished with a Gaa of 3.03 and impressive Sv% of .935. She also led the league in saves with 1243. Brittni Mowat has been with GDI since the 2011 season in the MFMHL League training through 1v1 lessons. Kerigan Dowhy has been with GDI since the 2012/2013 season in the MFMHL AAA League training through GDI Team Consulting/ Team Practice Attendance and 1v1 Lessons.
