Zach Rakochy spent over 60 hours volunteering in Steinbach schools assisting teachers, spending time with students, and was also involved in minor hockey during the month of March. “Zach has made a tremendous impact with youth in Steinbach and has set the bar extremely high when it comes to giving back to the community,” said Pistons Head Coach & GM, Paul Dyck. “I am often approached by parents with a son or daughter in one of the schools where Zach volunteers and they always comment on the positive influence he has been on their child. Zach understands the opportunity he has as a Junior hockey player to make a difference in the lives of people and he selflessly gives his time.”
Congratulations Zach as this month’s Manitoba Pork Peak Performer!

The Winnipeg Bantam 1 Monarchs finished off their season.
The Monarchs played their final game of the season vs the host Kelowna team in the Western Bantam Championships. Unfortunately they ended up losing this one by a score of 2-1 in a close match-up.
The staff at GDI would like to congratulate both Conor Gillis and Bennett Garber on such a successful run that they have had this year! All the hard work and dedication has paid off and will continue into the future!
Shaftesbury Junior goaltender Kristen Campbell (Brandon, MB) has committed to attend and play hockey for the University of North Dakota Sioux in the 2015-2016 season. The Sioux are a NCAA Division I program that play out of the WCHA Conference and are located in Grand Forks, ND.
Campbell joined the Shaftesbury program in her junior year. The year before she was turning heads as she helped lead the Westman Wildcats to the provincial AAA Midget final in her sophomore season. This past season Campbell impressed all season long as she faced some very good programs over the course of the year while compiling an impressive 25-3-1 record. She was between the pipes for 30 games this year and only surrendered 34 goals against. Her sparkling 0.92 GAA and 0.941 SV% were also good enough to set new club season records. Campbell made POE U18 Team Manitoba this past season and played in two games for the team at the U18 Canadian Nationals in Calgary, AB.
