GDI Train Like A ProBOOK YOUR SPOTS FOR FEBRUARY 1v1's

Make sure you stay sharp this season by attending 1v1 lessons. The month of February is starting to fill up for 1v1 sessions at the centre. We are now open from 3:30PM-9:30PM during the week, 10:00AM-3:00PM Saturday and Sunday To make sure you secure your spots throughout February we suggest signing up for your 1v1 sessions well in advance! GDI Off-Season Programs

The hockey season is starting to wind down, It's time to start planning your off-season training. GDI offers a wide variety of off-season programs including the Total GDI Academy and GDI Summer Camps.

Spring Programs:

GDI is offering two separate springs programs this year.

AcademySpring Academy:

Off-Season Total GDI Academy:

With a goaltenders performance on the ice being the main area critiqued and evaluated across Western Canada, GDI Goaltending has created a goaltending academy that incorporates all on-ice aspects that will take the aspiring athlete to new heights. Covering all 4 developmental domains within the position, Physiological, Psychological, Technical, and Equipment, GDI provides each goaltender with the resources they need in order to advance as the season approaches. Through this academy goaltenders will be able to advance their potential, year by year, through each level of the program eventually leading them into the pro ranks. For more information Click Here

Dubnyk Named NHL's First Star Of The Week

Devan Dubnyk of the Minnesota Wild was recently named the NHL's first star of the week. Dubnyk went 2-0-0, stopping all 42 shots he faced to lead the Wild (25-20-6, 56 points) to a pair of shutout victories and their season-high fifth consecutive win overall. He recorded 24 saves in a 3-0 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks Feb. 3. Dubnyk also denied all 18 shots against in a 1-0 victory over the Colorado Avalanche Feb. 7, picking up his 13th career shutout and fifth of 2014-15. The 28-year-old Regina, Sask., native is 16-6-2 in 28 total appearances this season, including a 7-1-0 mark with a 1.31 goals-against average, .948 save percentage and four shutouts in nine games since joining the Wild Jan. 14. Per Elias, Dubnyk is the fastest player to earn four shutouts with one club among goaltenders who have debuted in the NHL's expansion era (since 1967-68). Jason Kasdorf GDI Goaltending RPI EngineersKasdorf Involved In Blockbust NHL Deal

Jason Kasdorf was involved in a major blockbuster trade between the Winnipeg Jets and the Buffalo Sabres. "The Jets traded Kane, Zach Bogosian, and unsigned goaltending prospect Jason Kasdorf to the Sabres on Wednesday in exchange for Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, prospects Brendan Lemieux, Joel Armia and a 2015 first-round draft pick." "Kasdorf, 22, was selected by the Jets in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Draft. He is currently playing for RPI of the NCAA." Edmonds Stars In Battle Of The Cats

Ty Edmonds was busy Friday night when the Prince George Cougars visited the Medicine Hat Tigers. Edmonds was impressive as he made 41 saves for a 4-2 win over the Tigers. The Tigers threw a combined 34 shots at Edmonds during the second and third period. Edmonds was named the game's first star for his strong play. Nick DeeryDeery Named Finalist For MJHL Top Goaltender Award

Nick Deery of the Steinbach Pistons has been named one of three finalists for the Top Goaltender Award for the MJHL. So far this season Deery has posted outstanding numbers for the Pistons with a record of 26-14-0 to go along with a GAA of 2.38 and a Sv% of .915. Deery has also shutout the opposition 5 times this season. 4 GDI goalies headed off to Prince George, British Columbia this week to participate in the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Kristen Campbell & Devan Johnson return to the crease for Team Manitoba's U-18 squad. On Sunday Campbell turned aside 24 shots for Team Manitoba as they defeated Team Saskatchewan by a score of 2-1 in a shootout. Also attending the Canada Winter Games are GDI Goalies Dylan Myskiw and Matt Radomsky. Both will be playing for Team Manitoba's U-16 boys team.

Kerdes Named MFMHL GDI Goalie Of The Month

The MFMHL GDI Goalie of the Month for January is Michelle Kerdes of the Westman Wildcats. Kerdes, who is in her third MFMHL season hails from Winnipeg MB, recorded 3 wins vs. 1 loss while posting a GAA of 1.50 and a save % of .949. To date this season Kerdes has a GAA of 1.93 and save % of .922 in MFMHL play with a 10-2-2 record and for season with the Wildcats Kerdes has an overall 18-7-3 record with a GAA of 2.12 while recording 4 shutouts. GDI Goalies Preparing For Playoffs

It was another week of minor hockey clinics that GDI staff were running. This week GDI visited Portage La Prairie to work with the local minor hockey goalies. GDI also worked with all of the AA St. Vital Vics goaltenders Saturday night. Many APHA goalies also visited GDI at The Rink to work through weekly ice times with GDI staff.
