In-Season Total GDI Academy:
With the new hockey season approaching the In-Season Total GDI Academy is starting to fill up.
The In-Season Total GDI Goaltending Academy is designed to support the competitive athlete. With hectic team practice and game schedules in mind, the Academy gives goaltenders the opportunity to train before school hours to help their time management and create a positive environment to succeed at both education and hockey development. In addition to on-ice development goalies will receive video analysis to constructively critique their performance in each days on-ice topic. This overall support and mentorship will help enhance game play throughout the season.
GDI offers 3 different days for the In-Season Total Academy with Tuesdays and Wednesdays at The Rink Training Centre and Fridays at Gateway arena.
Spots are filling up fast with only a few remaining. Look to book your spot as soon as possible.

A New WHL Season
On opening night GDI Goalie Zac Robidoux was in net for the Lethbridge Hurricanes taking on the team that had traded him away in the off-season, the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Robidoux was busy facing 38 shots including 15 in the first period. He finished the night with 35 saves and was able to kill off 5 of 6 Tiger power plays.
Robidoux's strong start wasn't enough as the Tigers took the game 3-2.
Saturday night saw GDI goalie Garret Hughson and the Spokane Chiefs take on the rival Tri-City Americans.
Hughson and the Chiefs were able to strike first in the season series taking this one 4-2 over the Americans. Hughson was solid in net for the Chiefs making 33 saves and helping kill off 5 of 6 Tri City power plays.
Saturday also saw Ty Edmonds and the Prince George Cougars hit the road to take on the Portland Winterhawks.
Edmonds had a strong outing turning aside 31 of 34 shots to get the Cougars the 6-3 win. Edmonds and the Cougars were also able to kill of an impressive 8 Winterhawk power plays.
Opening Weekend in The MJHL
The 2014/2015 MJHL opened this past weekend and it was a busy one for a few GDI goalies.
Scott Parsons of the Winnipeg Blues played in back to back wins against the Selkirk Steelers Friday and Saturday night.
Parsons was solid stopping 40 of the 43 shots he faced over the weekend.
GDI goalies Adam Vander Linden and Nick Deery faced off this weekend when the Winkler Flyers took on the Steinbach Pistons.
The Flyers took the first game by a score of 4-2. Vander Linden finished the night with 23 saves to get the win. Deery was a bit busier in the loss stopping 27 shots.
Deery was able to get some revenge the following night as the Pistons defeated the Flyers 5-3. Deery posted 24 saves in the win.
Another busy goalie this weekend was Brody Claeys of the OCN Blizzard. Claeys saw 52 shots fired his was in the two games against the Neepawa Natives. Unfortunately his strong effort wasn't enough to get the Blizzard in the win column in either game.
Full Weekend Of GDI Clinics
It was another busy week for GDI. There were multiple minor hockey clinics going on over the course of the weekend.
Friday night GDI was in St. Malo to work with the Rat River minor hockey goalies.
GDI was also in the Eastman area all weekend running clinics in Steinbach and Oakbank from Friday to Sunday.
GDI would like to wish good luck this upcoming season to all the goalies that attended the clinics over the weekend.
