WARRIORS BOAST UNPRECEDENTED GOALTENDING DEPTH – ADAMYK BETWEEN THE PIPES
One thing became clear at Moose Jaw Warriors training camp.
For the first time in team history they have goaltending depth.
All four goaltenders the Warriors brought to main camp looked like they have WHL careers in their future. Justin Paulic is the veteran of the bunch, but considering three of those goalies — Zach Sawchenko, Brody Willms and Mitchell Adamyk — are 15 or 16 years old, that presents a nice problem for the Warriors in the future.
“The two young goaltenders … Willms is what he is and Adamyk has come in here and he’s raw, but there’s lot of potential there,” said Millar.
Adamyk robbed Brayden Point twice in the first scrimmage of the weekend — once in overtime — from point blank range to announce his presence at camp.
“In the first game I was a little nervous, but since then my confidence has kept going up,” said Adamyk, a six-foot-two listed goalie from Winnipeg. “I’ve gotten a lot of confidence out of this weekend.”
Adamyk only played in the Winnipeg City Midget league a year ago, but is hoping to play midget AAA with the Winnipeg Thrashers or in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Neepawa Natives.

GDI Goalies go head to head in preseason WHL action.
In WHL action the Seattle Thunderbirds faced off against the Spokane Chiefs. In-between the pipes for Seattle was longtime GDI Goalie Logan Flodell.
The 1997-born Regina native pushed aside 52 of 53 shots on the night. The Chiefs went 1 for 10 on the Powerplay.
Peppered by the Chiefs unfortunately for Flodell his squad couldn’t muster a goal against Hughson and Verhelst.
Veteran Hughson didn’t see much action as he stopped a low 3 shots. In addition, Verhelst stopped 16/16.
All three goaltenders in action in this game have trained extensively with GDI Goaltending over the last several years. Hughson has trained in 1v1 training sessions while playing with the Chiefs while Verhelst has taken part in the Off-Season Total GDI Academy along with countless 1v1 sessions. Flodell trained with GDI Goaltending in Regina through a GDI Summer Camp at a young age. After he has gone through many 1v1 training sessions.
The staff at GDI would like to wish all the best to each goaltender as the pre-season continues!
Over the course of the summer countless goalies walked through to doors at GDI to be relentless. That too can be said about Lance Knudson.
Knudson travelled from Crosby, North Dakota to work with GDI. Lance spent a full two weeks in Winnipeg. He was on the ice every day at least once attending 1v1 lessons and 7am PSM circuits.
Lance spent last season in the American West Hockey league with the Billings Bulls and is currently attending the MJHL Winkler Flyers fall training camp.
Who will be the two goalies for the Minnesota Wild this season between Harding, Backstrom and Kuemper?
