In The Crease

GDI AcademyFor most people there are still a few weeks left of summer, but for a few GDI Goalies the summer is over and it's time to get down to business. GDI Goalies Austin Lotz, Ty Edmonds, Alex Moodie and Tyson Verhelst have hit the road to join their respective WHL teams. All 4 goalies spent countless hours at The Rink with GDI this summer being apart of the GDI Total Academy. They also were pushed to the limit upstairs with EL1TE Performance. For more on the Total GDI Academy Click Here   LotzAustin Lotz is entering his 4th season in the WHL with the Everett Silvertips. Lotz has been a workhorse for the 'tips appearing in 116 games over the past 3 seasons. Last season Lotz posted a record of 31-18-3-2-0 with a GAA of 2.53 and SV% of 0.905. Lotz was also tied for second in the WHL for shutouts with an impressive 5 shutouts on the season. Lotz will again be looked to carry the bulk of the load for the Silvertips this season. Moodie spent the last two seasons with the Saskatoon Blades but an off-season trade has landed him in Spokane, Washington with the Spokane Chiefs. Injuries limited Moodie to only 28 games last season so he will be looking to earn some more starts this season.   VerhelstTyson Verhelst will be joining Alex Moodie in Spokane as he's looking to make the jump to the WHL this season with the Chiefs. GDI in Brandon, Manitoba

This past week saw GDI travel to Brandon, Manitoba for another week long camp. Goalies were again put to the test on the ice as well as off the ice going through multiple daily ice times and workouts. They were also tested mentally completing their daily journals. GDI’s camps have long stood for a comprehensive approach to goaltender development with a strong emphasis on the technical, psychological, physiological and equipment dimensions of the game.
