BOOK YOUR 1v1 SPOTS FOR GDI AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 1v1's:As the summer progresses, the months of August and September are starting to fill up for 1v1 sessions at the centre. We are now open from 9:30AM-9:30PM during the week, 10:00AM-3:00PM Saturday and Sunday. To make sure you secure your spots throughout August and September we suggest signing up for your 1v1 sessions well in advance! ______________________________________________________________________________________ GDI Goalie Ryan Kubic has been in Calgary, AB the past week participating in the National Under 17 Development camp. The camp is being used to identify players who will be selected to play for Team Canada at the World U-17 Hockey Championship. The tournament will take place November 2-8 in Sarnia, Ontario. In a new format this year Canada will enter 3 national teams for the World U-17 Hockey Championship. In years past Canada entered 5 regional teams. Kubic was 1 of only 12 goalies invited to the camp. For more on the U-17 National Development Camp Click Here Last season Kubic was a member of the Winnipeg Thrashers of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League. This upcoming season Kubic will look to obtain a spot on the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. The Giants selected Kubic 39th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Ryan has been training at GDI regularly with 1v1 lessons and also attends the Total GDI Academy Program. This week at GDI saw Scott Parsons of the MJHL Winnipeg Blues travel to Winnipeg from Fort Frances, Ontario. Last season Parsons compiled a GAA of 2.59 and SV% of .904 to go along with his record of 8 wins and 4 losses. Scott's solid record helped the Winnipeg Blues capture the Turnbull Cup as the champions of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. With the graduation of GDI Goalie Byron Spriggs who has committed to play at the University of Manitoba, Parsons will be looked to carry the load for the Blues next season. Also in at the centre this week were GDI Goalies Jason Kasdorf and Matt Krahn. Jason Kasdorf was wrapping up his summer of training at GDI before heading back to RPI for another season with the Engineers. Kasdorf recently participated in the Winnipeg Jets Development camp after being drafted by the Jets in 2011. Matt Krahn is preparing for his third season with the Mississippi Riverkings of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Last season Krahn appeared in 29 games for the Riverkings with a record of 16-10-3. Matt had 1 shutout to go along with his GAA of 2.73 and SV% of .914. Both Kasdorf and Krahn have trained regularly at GDI through the years attending countless lessons and ice times. Do you stand on the blue line or by yourself during the national anthem?
