The junior hockey career for many Manitoba youngsters begins this Sunday in Portage where the annual MJHL bantam draft will be staged. The draft begins Sunday morning at 9, with selections posted to the MJHL website. The No. 1 overall selection belongs to Neepawa Natives, with Virden, Selkirk, Winkler and Wayway rounding out the top five picks. In addition to the bantam draft, each of the 11 MJHL teams are allowed to protect up to two players from their region.
